Keeping our sidewalks free of ice and snow is the neighborly thing to do.

Snow Shoveling

Groveport Ordinance 521.06 requires owners or occupants to keep the sidewalks, curbs or gutters in repair and free from snow, ice or any nuisance.

When you shovel snow and clear ice

  • Shovel the sidewalks on all sides of your property, the full width of the sidewalk down to the bare pavement.
  • Pile the removed snow and ice onto your yard – not into the streets or alleys.
  • If you have a corner property, clear curb cuts at corners and crosswalks to the street gutter.
  • The sooner and more completely you shovel, the less likely ice will form.
  • Consider lending a hand to neighbors having difficulty shoveling their sidewalks.
